Days and Ages

A viewer is invited to alter their perception, ever so slightly, by climbing a stone step and peering out a black, abstract window.

The window is filled with black, magnetite sand harvested from a beach in Oregon. The sand reflects light as one moves around it. The shimmering surface registers the viewer’s presence, as it simultaneously brings the passage of time into the work. The blue marble’s surface is hand sanded.

The experience of viewing the work is to put one in a child-like mode; to stare off into a false depth created by the sparkle. It is an invitation to look beyond the wall in front of you.
