Shinji Murakami
Happy Meals

Murakami considers his methodology of form a distillation through which he removes unnecessary elements from his subjects, leaving only the fundamental parts that make up the shape.

At the beginning of his journey into 3 dimensions, Shinji Murakami took up the iconic “Happy Meal.” What could be more universal? Here he applies his approach of simplification and begins the long journey of carving wood and painting which has evolved throughout his career.
